De Volksbank, bunq and Triodos named Netherlands' best in climate commitments
Today, a case study for Fair Finance Guide Netherlands named "Climate change commitments of financial institutions active in the Netherlands was released. This report has been commissioned by the Eerlijke Geldwijzer (Fair Finance Guide Netherlands). The Eerlijke Geldwijzer is a coalition of the following organizations: Amnesty International, Milieudefensie, Oxfam Novib, PAX, and World Animal Protection.
The report identified a trio of winners in both insurance (Athora Netherlands, ASR and Achmea taking the top 3 spots) and banking sectors (with De Volksbank way ahead of competition with an 8,6 out of 10 combined score; bunq and Triodos sharing the second spot with 7,6 each).
It's interesting that when comparing banks, insurance companies and pension funds, banks came out on top with a 6,2 average, which could be considered quite high compared to 4,3 for insurance companies and a low 3,6 for the pension funds.
